What “emergency” actually covers
An emergency is any leak you cannot stop with the inlet stopcock, any leak that keeps coming back, or any failure that risks damaging another unit. We work on:
- Tap, basin and sink trap leaks — usually a worn cartridge, gasket or olive joint.
- Toilet bowl and flush tank leaks — flapper, fill valve, flange wax, push-button cartridge.
- Water heater leaks — T&P safety valve, drain cock, tank corrosion, broken inlet/outlet fittings.
- Exposed copper or PPR pipe leaks — cut-and-fit replacement, crimp or compression repair.
- Hidden leaks behind tiles or in slabs — located with listening gear before any chasing.
What we do on arrival
The plumber isolates the offending fixture first so you can keep general water in the rest of the home. Then we diagnose — sometimes that takes ten minutes, sometimes an hour. Either way you get a written quote before the wrench comes out.
If we cannot complete the repair safely the same day, we will say so in plain English and prevent further damage with a temporary cap or shut-off until the right parts arrive.
Hidden leaks — how we find them without smashing walls
We start non-invasive. Moisture meters identify the wet edge. Acoustic listening discs locate pressurised pipe runs. Thermal imaging picks up hot-water lines under tile. Only once the source is pinpointed do we agree with you which tile or panel to lift.
What it usually costs
Most single-fixture repairs sit in a familiar range once the diagnosis is done. We don’t list a hero price because the same symptom can hide three different causes. The written quote you sign is the price you pay; if the job grows we stop and re-quote.
